Daily Balance

The total electricity consumption amounted to 136 GWh, with a peak of 6 846 MW at 21:00. Renewable generation supplied 75% of the consumption, with hydro standing out at 40%. The balance of trade with foreign countries was import, with 11 GWh. So far this year, renewable production has accounted for 83% of the national electricity consumption.

Energy Balance

Consumption concerning the power stations’ net generation, on the selected day, on the equivalent day of the previous year, monthly cumulative value and variation compared with the same monthly period from the previous year. The value of consumption corrected for the effects of temperature and the breakdown of production by primary source – coal, natural gas, water, wind, sun, biomass, and others – are also presented. In addition to the daily energy values, the peak value (maximum instantaneous value) observed on the selected day, for each of the primary sources, is also presented.

Water Balance

Energy inflow into hydroelectric dams on the selected date. In the case of run-of-river dams, since they have reduced storage capacity, their daily generation is used as the value of the energy inflow. For small hydro, their daily generation is also used as the value of the energy inflow. The energy stored in all reservoirs on the selected date is also shown.

Breakdown of Production

Production breakdown according to primary source – coal, natural gas, water, wind, sun, biomass and others. These are available individually by selecting “Detailed” or grouped into renewables (water, wind, solar and biomass) and non-renewables (coal, natural gas and others) by selecting “Aggregated”. Imports are also represented, if they exist. If production is greater than consumption, that means electricity is being exported, with exports being the difference between production and consumption.

Biomass includes renewable cogeneration, forest biomass, biogas and the biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste. In "Other Thermal" is included fuel-oil, gas, the non-biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste and other waste. If import balance is positive, its contribution to the electrical consumption in mainland Portugal is also presented.
Values are daily, for the selected date.

Hydro Generation

Detail of the hydro generation. Breakdown into reservoirs, run-of-river and small hydro power plants. Negative values indicate the reservoirs’ pumping consumption.

Non-Renewable Generation

Detail of the generation from non-renewable sources. Breakdown according to fuel (coal, natural gas and others). In the “Other Thermal” category is included fuel-oil, the non-biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste and other waste.

Non-Hydro Renewable Generation

Detail of the generation from renewable sources excluding hydro. Breakdown according to primary source (wind, sun, biomass). Biomass includes renewable cogeneration, forest biomass, biogas and the biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste.

Import Balance

Positive values correspond to an import balance and negative values correspond to an export balance.
